Rotating Cabins and Seats for Recreational and Entertainment Purposes
Conveyors with mechanical drive, commonly referred to as carousels, are an integral part of many entertainment venues and an essential element of mountain tourism. You can find them not only in amusement parks but also as mechanisms for ski lifts or tourist transport. These are devices that move cabins hanging on ropes or traveling on tracks.
Types of Chairlifts

- cable cars (gondolas) and open cars,
- cableway-track systems,
- single and double cable cars.
These devices belong to the category of aerial cableways, but we also distinguish chairlifts with a double line and cable terrain systems. Regardless of their type, safety is a key aspect of their operation, requiring regular technical inspections and maintenance.
Technical Inspections of Chairlifts
- periodic inspections - devices under full supervision,
- control inspections - devices under limited supervision,
- ad-hoc operational inspections - performed as needed,
- ad-hoc post-accident inspections - in case of damage or accidents.
The operator of the device is responsible for checking the machine before, during, and after its operation.
Conservator Training in the Chairlift Industry
Training Scope
- construction and operation of chairlifts,
- knowledge of UDT (Office of Technical Inspection) and chairlifts,
- hazards during operation,
- device operation,
- assessment of technical condition,
- device maintenance,
- technical documentation,
- occupational health and safety regulations.
The course program complies with UDT requirements. After completing the training, participants take an examination for conservator qualifications.
Requirements for Participants
- at least 18 years old,
- at least basic education,
- no medical contraindications.
