Goods HoistGoods hoists belong to the category of materials handling equipment used for loading and unloading goods using a winch, which is employed to move goods from one place to another. They often resemble ladders and are sometimes referred to as such. At times, they are called "skips," which can be confusing, as it may be mistaken for a nautical "slip" used at sea for launching ships. Goods hoists, also known as skips, are exclusively used in construction.

We can categorize these machines into two types:

  • Rope-based goods hoists,
  • Chain-based goods hoists.
To operate goods hoists, one must possess knowledge of their operation, maintenance, and use. To work with goods hoists, similar to other materials handling equipment, one must acquire the necessary qualifications, which are issued by the Technical Inspection Office.

Three fundamental requirements for future goods hoist operators:

  • Familiarity with safety regulations,
  • Awareness of potential workplace hazards,
  • Adherence to regulations related to construction work.
Individuals looking to work with goods hoists must also have:
  • Knowledge and skills,
  • A sense of responsibility and caution,
  • Familiarity with the materials used in the construction of these machines,
  • Appropriate certificates allowing for such work.
The essential knowledge required to take the UDT exam for obtaining qualifications as a goods hoist operator is provided in our training courses. These courses are divided into two stages: theory and practice. During the theoretical training, you will learn:
  • All about the Technical Inspection Office (UDT) - its requirements and regulations related to machine operation,
  • Exam requirements,
  • Everything about the construction, operation, and functioning of goods hoists,
  • Proper maintenance of goods hoists, assessing their technical condition,
  • How to detect faults, repair them correctly, and prevent them in the future,
  • Occupational safety regulations for working with goods hoists,
  • Possible hazardous situations, how to handle them, and how to prevent them,
  • You will have the opportunity to interact with experts and ask them about anything that is unclear to you.
On the other hand, the practical course, conducted on actual machines, includes:
  • Learning to detect faults and repair them,
  • Equipment maintenance,
  • Operation, both in motion during typical work and in a stationary setting, to become fully acquainted with the capabilities of goods hoists,
  • Working with experienced instructors who will demonstrate how to work with goods hoists safely and efficiently and will answer any questions from participants,
  • Group work, which allows for better learning outcomes and increased teaching efficiency.
We conduct training at our center, where we provide modern classrooms, a training ground with actual machines used in work, and, most importantly, experienced instructors who have been working with goods hoists for many years and are eager to share their knowledge. Upon request, we can also provide training at a location specified by the client. Enrollment is open to individual clients as well as employees of companies or groups. Requirements for training participants:
  • Must be at least 18 years old,
  • At least basic education (professional education is not required),
  • No health-related contraindications,
  • Category B driver's license.
After completing the training, participants take the exam, and a positive result in both the theoretical and practical parts results in obtaining qualifications for operating goods hoists, allowing them to begin work in this position. The certificate is valid for 10 years and permits the operation of:
  • Stationary goods hoists,
  • Transportable and mobile goods hoists.
These qualifications are valid throughout Poland, and anyone meeting the above requirements and wishing to enhance their qualifications, expand their knowledge of goods hoists, or simply obtain the necessary qualifications is welcome to participate. We assist with the formalities related to exam registration and document retrieval.
