Aircraft Deicer Equipment Operator Training
Equipment-focused training in the operation of an aircraft deicing vehicle, its boom and operator station. ERGON delivers practical sessions on the customer’s deicer at the airport.
Training scope
The course focuses on the GSE itself: preparation, vehicle movement, control of the boom and enclosed cabin or basket, and operation of the fluid delivery system. Participants study reach and load limitations, collision hazards, protective functions and emergency controls. The deicing process is introduced only to the extent needed to understand equipment operation and coordination with the airport team.
- Checks of the chassis, boom, cabin or basket, hoses, controls, fluid system and protective devices; interpretation of manufacturer-defined weather limits.
- Positioning near a mock-up or designated training area, boom operation, maintenance of clearances and driver–operator communication.
- Controlled spray-function testing in an approved area, emergency stopping, model-specific recovery of the operator station and defect reporting.
Who should attend
Deicer operators, drivers and GSE personnel. Full deicing and anti-icing qualification requires the applicable airline or organisation’s training and authorisation programme.
Outcome
Participants should perform the equipment tasks correctly and recognise stop-work conditions. This course alone does not qualify personnel to assess aircraft surface cleanliness, determine holdover times or approve an aircraft deicing process.
Training includes the agreed sessions, Polish or English materials, internal assessment and an ERGON certificate on successful completion. Other price conditions are set out in the commercial section.
